- In Podman 6.x, the {{.Labels}} template field comes out as a flat string (k=v,k=v) instead of a map, so index .Labels "<key>" can't work.

  • The bug is in kind's Podman support. kind fixed it in PR #4203 (merged 2026-06-26), which is in kind v0.33.0 (released 2026-08-26). The fix chooses a different label template for Podman 5.0 and later.
  • The Crossplane CLI embeds kind as a Go library. Its go.mod pins sigs.k8s.io/kind v0.30.0 at both the v2.5.0 tag and main, so it still has the broken template.

bump kind to v0.33.0 or later.
