Start with the composefs deployment status check in crates/lib/src/bootc_composefs/status.rs around lines 990–995, which the issue identifies as requiring all deployments to share one boot type. Trace how switching and garbage collection handle a staged UKI deployment alongside a BLS deployment, and check the related issue #2422 for context. Done when the switch either preserves the BLS deployment for rollback or fails with a clear error before staging, and subsequent status and rollback commands remain usable.

Mô tả

Starting from a bootc composefs backend + systemd-boot system with a BLS image, bootc switch to a UKI image fails during grabadge collection after staging it. Any following commands like bootc status, bootc rollback fail with the same error:

The status code requires every deployment to share one boot type (status.rs#L990-L995).

Expected behavior:

  1. The switch succeeds and keeps the BLS deployment for rollback.
  2. Or bootc simply refuses with a clear error msg before staging.

Tested on bootc v1.16.10 + Ubuntu 26.04 image, but this will still happen on main currently as well.
