Description

Currently there is no feature to pull up on a ledge like in Gothic. In G, if the ledge is about 0.5m high, then the hero can jump and grab it. We should implement a similar - VR like feature. Thief VR has a good mechanism and it also uses HVR for hand interactions, which makes it easier to adopt the implementation: https://youtu.be/c5060hPFLjk?si=cMBjKxlS-JOsOWGa&t=1455

TODOs

  • If our hands are above our head, raycast each (physics)-frame, if there is a ledge in about 0.5m above us
  • if so, add a grabbable element as transparent collider at it
  • If we then have our hands pointing at it, it's like if we want to pull it towards us (white indicator)
  • Then a grab of both hands will pulls us on top of it
    • Via non-physics fly
    • Or via blink/teleport

Alternative

  • During world creation, we could calculate these ledges which we can grab already. From my understanding, there are two elements important: (1) the "wall" and the "floor" need to be around 90° in angle sharp, (2) the height of the wall-ledge needs to be around 2-2.5m only.
  • It could be cached and the Colliders to "pull us against" can be added in world during runtime.
