Research direction

The issue does not name files or tests. Start by locating the dev overlay’s shared browser handle and the code that tracks contextFailures and handles close requests. Move the counter onto the browser handle and memoize the close promise; done when relaunching resets the counter and concurrent close requests share one promise.

Description

area: overlay bug

What

Two small robustness items in the shared browser used by the dev overlay, found in review and deferred:

  • contextFailures is tracked at the plugin level rather than per browser instance, so a relaunch does not reset the count in the way the comment implies.
  • Two concurrent close requests do not share one close promise.

Direction

Move the failure counter onto the browser handle and memoize the close promise.
