Research direction

Start with the home screen's Jump back in tile subtitle and the iOS JumpBackInText.subtitle implementation; the issue does not name the Android file or test. Compare how both platforms show the item kind and current song in a two-column phone layout, then adjust the subtitle presentation so the song hint remains readable and the platforms express the same intent. Done when long song titles are no longer cut off to a few characters and the item kind remains available to TalkBack and VoiceOver.

Description

design

Jump back in tiles on a 2-column phone grid put the kind and the state on one line ("Artist · "), which leaves room for about eight characters of the song: docs/design/home/resuming.png shows "Artist · Tidal P…", "Playlist · Open…" and even "Album · Finish…". Every tile now shows the song it was left on (shuffled ones included), so the hint is there but mostly cut off.

Options:

  • Drop the kind from the visible line when a song is known (TalkBack/VoiceOver keep it), so the line is just the song.
  • Give the song its own line under the kind (taller tiles).

Check iOS JumpBackInText.subtitle for the same truncation and keep both platforms' intent the same.
