Assessment

This issue has not been assessed yet.

Description

On Windows 11 the desktop app from desktop-latest opens an empty window, and the default browser opens http://tauri.localhost/ at the same time with ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED. The window never leaves the blank page.

Build: codetrial 0.1.0 (ce2c50a), installed from the desktop-latest release.

Steps

  1. Install desktop-latest on Windows 11 and start CodeTrial.

Expected: the window shows "Starting..." and then the setup page.
Actual: the window stays blank and the browser shows tauri.localhost refused the connection.

The server itself is fine: codetrial-server.log ends with open http://127.0.0.1:3101 in your browser to continue setup, and that URL shows the setup page in a browser.

Initial analysis

open_window records the start page with window.url() right after build() (desktop/src/main.rs:285 at ce2c50a). On Windows, WebView2 has not begun loading index.html at that point, so the recorded URL is not http://tauri.localhost/index.html. Once start_page is set, on_navigation (desktop/src/main.rs:185) judges the window's own first navigation against it, navigation::judge finds no matching origin, returns Verdict::OpenInBrowser, and the navigation is cancelled. That is the blank window and the browser tab.

Recording the start page from the first navigation instead, which the comment in on_navigation already says is the start page, fixes it locally: with that change, cargo run on the same machine logs the web view has WebRTC: the interview runs in this window and the window moves on to the server.
