Research direction

Start by tracing how App Rules apply the per-app Function Keys option when iTerm2 or Terminal is frontmost, then follow the keyboard event handling that decides whether F1–F12 act as function or media keys. Check for existing tests around app-specific rule application. Done means the selected setting takes effect for the configured apps on both internal and external keyboards.

Description

Description

The per-app Function Keys option in App Rules never takes effect. I set it to "Use Function Keys (F1, F2, etc.)" for iTerm2, Terminal, but F1–F12 still act as media keys (brightness, volume, etc.) when iTerm is frontmost.

##Environment

  • Input Source Pro: 2.13.2 (1171), actually it never worked on my laptop since it's release
  • macOS: Version 27.0.1 (22625.1.29.11.28), actually it didn't work in 26 neither
  • Mac / chip: MacBook Pro M1 pro
  • Keyboard: neither internal nor external works
  • Installed via: Homebrew
