Direção de pesquisa

Read the earlier discussions in #2524, #2323, #2455, and #2396, then inspect pvlib.solarposition.ephemeris and its documentation page. Determine the project's deprecation policy and whether the alternatives discussed there are suitable; done means the maintainers agree on a deprecation and removal schedule and the issue is addressed accordingly.

Descrição

deprecation

Describe the bug
#2524, #2323 , #2455 all comment about a minor issue on the implementation of pvlib.solarposition.ephemeris and better alternatives already present in pvlib. And an alleged removal of it. However, it still hasn't been deprecated, even thou there does not seem to be any opinion against it.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. https://pvlib-python.readthedocs.io/en/stable/reference/generated/pvlib.solarposition.ephemeris.html#pvlib.solarposition.ephemeris
  2. Also, #2396 (btw didn't we pin this issue long ago so it was easily accessible from the issues list?)

Expected behavior
Deprecate in next version, minor or patch, schedule or not for removal for minor version + 2 (i.e., deprecate in v0.17 and remove in 0.19, or deprecate in 0.16.2 and remove in 0.18).
