Research direction

Start by reading services/mtg/src/utils/catalog_sync.rs and models/printing/db.rs, then trace how catalog data reaches the deck API and deck view. The issue proposes storing oracle-level card-to-token relations, returning distinct tokens with creator cards, and displaying token images; the UI location, included deck zones, helper types, counts, and export behavior are still open decisions.

What

In a deck, I want to see somewhere which tokens its cards create (e.g. Soldier 1/1, Treasure, Clue, Emblems), so I know which tokens to bring when I play it.

Current state

  • The catalog sync (services/mtg/src/utils/catalog_sync.rs, bulk file all_cards) already imports tokens as printings. Cardmarket does not stock them (see models/printing/db.rs).
  • Nothing records which card creates which token. ScryfallCard does not read Scryfall's all_parts field (entries with component: "token" / "meld_part" etc.), so there is nothing to derive the list from yet.

Rough idea

  1. Catalog sync: read all_parts and store a card -> token relation (at oracle level, since the tokens are the same for every printing of a card).
  2. Deck API: return the distinct tokens of all cards in the deck (incl. sideboard? to be decided), each with the cards that create it.
  3. Frontend: a "Tokens" section/tab in the deck view with token images and "created by" hints.

Open questions

  • Where in the deck UI: own tab, collapsible section below the list, or a dialog?
  • Include sideboard / maybe-board cards?
  • Show emblems and dungeons/other all_parts helpers (Initiative, Monarch, etc.) too, or tokens only?
  • Count per token (how many to bring) or just the list?
  • Should the MPCFill export offer to include the tokens?
