Research direction

The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by locating the existing window-focus and global modifier-key handling in the Swift macOS app, then determine how a held Alt, Command, or Control key can trigger focus only while the pointer is over a window. Done means the selected key temporarily focuses the target window while held and stops on release.

Feature Request Description

I’d like to propose that Loop introduce an option to change window focus using a single customizable modifier key (Alt, Command, or Control). The functionality would activate when the chosen modifier key is pressed and held while the cursor is positioned over a window, instantly bringing that application to the front without requiring additional clicks. When the key is released, the behavior stops, keeping the interaction temporary and predictable.

As macOS follows a click‑to‑focus interaction model at the window layer, this addition would complement the existing behavior by offering a direct, hold‑to‑focus gesture that feels natural during rapid multitasking.

Additional Context
  • Hovering and holding a single key preserves flow, reduces steps, and keeps window management elegant.
  • Focus changes only while the key is pressed and held, and the cursor is over the target window.
