Research direction

Start with the action definitions and action picker for gestures and keybinds, then compare the existing Minimize and Hide actions, including how they select the target window under the cursor. Add a Close option that closes that target window like its red button, and check that it appears and works for both gestures and keybinds.

Description

Feature Request Summary

Add a "Close Window" action that can be bound to a trackpad gesture or a keybind.

Problem / Opportunity & Desired Solution

I'm moving from Swish to Loop's trackpad gestures (1.4.3 (1783) dev build). In Swish, pinching on the title bar closes the window, and that's about 5% of my window actions. Loop has Minimize and Hide but no Close, and a Custom action only sets a frame, so I can't bind Pinch to close.

How it should work:

  • a Close action that closes the target window, same as clicking its red button
  • available in the action picker for gestures and keybinds
  • follows the "Under Cursor" window selection, like Minimize
Alternatives Considered
  1. ⌘W needs the keyboard, and in browsers and terminals it closes the current tab instead of the window.
Additional Context
  • Related: #1064 (trackpad gestures)
  • I searched existing issues for "close window" and found no request for this.
  • AI disclosure: drafted with Claude (Claude Code) from my notes and Loop's develop source. I reviewed and edited the text.
