Research direction

The report concerns the ZXing.Net.Bindings.Windows.Compatibility package, which in 0.16.14 pulls a .NET 9 System.Drawing.Common into a .NET 8 target. Start with the package's project file and its per-target-framework dependency groups, and compare the 0.16.13 and 0.16.14 packages. Done means a .NET 8 build restores without the .NET 9 dependency, and the maintainer has confirmed the approach.

Description

We experienced issues on our build pipeline after upgrading ZXing.Net.Bindings.Windows.Compatibility from 0.16.13 to 0.16.14, because our .NET 8 build pipeline could not find System.Drawing.Common in a .NET9 version.

The issue seems to be, that .NET 8 target requires a .NET 9 version:
