Research direction

Start by checking the Heltec v4 display and firmware update entry points for changes between versions 1.17.1 and 1.18. The report says an erase-all and reflash restored the OLED, but gives no files or tests to follow; reproduce the update path and determine whether it causes the black display while preserving user data. Done means the OLED works after updating without requiring erase-all.

Description

Dear all,
aflter flashing from 1.17.1 to 1.18 my OLED remains black after succesfull update. I did not use "erase all", because I was unsure what I might trigger by doing that. A friend of mine has the exact same problem and was able to resolve it by using "erase all" and reflashing 1.18

I couldn’t find a proper tutorial on how to proceed without losing my data and ID. Using the iOS Meshcore app, I’ve backed up my ID, contacts, and settings. Does this mean that, after flashing, I can copy everything back onto the Heltec from my iPhone via Bluetooth?

Thanks for your help.
