Research direction

Start by locating the Companion USB firmware entry point and comparing its RTC handling with the Repeater firmware, where the issue reports RTC works out of the box. Trace how time is preserved across power loss and identify the change needed for Companion USB. Done means RTC time remains correct after unplugging and reconnecting; the issue names no files or tests, so first locate the relevant firmware code and available tests.

Description

I use a heltec V3 as an "Companion USB".
To keep the time correct when unplugging it and plugging in again somewhere else, i attached a RTC module.

With "Companion USB" firmware it is not working. The time went away if it looses power for a few seconds.
If i flash "Repeater" firmware instead, it is working out of the box.

So i would like to see RTC support also for "Companion USB".
