Start in sentient/gateway/routes/ to see how the existing REST routes are registered and how they run a chat turn, then check how the keychain stores keys and how config is loaded. Add an optional POST /v1/chat/completions route that is off by default, supports streaming and non-streaming, and requires its own key. Document it in docs/API.md. Done means an OpenAI client pointed at localhost gets replies with memory, approvals still prompt in the app, requests without the key are refused, and tests cover streaming and auth.

Hermes exposes an OpenAI-compatible API server so other apps (editors, scripts, shortcuts) can talk to the assistant with its memory and tools. Sentient's REST API is its own shape.
Idea: an optional POST /v1/chat/completions (streaming and non-streaming) on localhost, behind a separate key in the keychain, that runs a normal Sentient chat turn in a named session. Off by default.
