appsettings.Production.yml in both the web and job projects contains values specific to the hosted service at exceptionless.io. Production is the default app mode when EX_AppMode is unset, so every self-hosted instance (Docker images included) loads them unless each one is overridden.

Setting Value Effect on a self-hosted instance
BaseURL https://be.exceptionless.io If EX_BaseURL is forgotten, startup succeeds instead of failing with "BaseURL is a required configuration setting", and links in emails (verification, password reset, notifications), webhook payloads, the Slack redirect URI and the OAuth issuer all point at the hosted site.
ConnectionStrings:OAuth hosted GitHubId, GoogleId, SlackId The server treats GitHub, Google and Slack as configured; the startup log reports "Google OAuth, GitHub OAuth, Slack" as enabled integrations even though no secrets are set and none of them work.
ExceptionlessServerUrl https://collector.exceptionless.io If an operator sets EX_ExceptionlessApiKey to log the server's own errors but not the server URL, those errors are sent to the hosted collector. It is also added to the UI's Content-Security-Policy connect-src, as is BaseURL.
InternalProjectId hosted project id Harmless, but meaningless outside the hosted service.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Run the exceptionless/exceptionless image with Elasticsearch configured but without EX_BaseURL or EX_ConnectionStrings__OAuth.
  2. The startup log lists Startup optional integrations/auth providers: Google OAuth, GitHub OAuth, Slack.
  3. Sign up and request a password reset. The email link points to https://be.exceptionless.io/....

Expected

Self-hosted instances start with no third-party client IDs or hosted URLs. A missing BaseURL fails fast at startup.

Suggested fix

Remove BaseURL, ConnectionStrings:OAuth, ExceptionlessServerUrl and InternalProjectId from the appsettings.Production.yml files (leave them as comments if useful as examples) and supply the hosted values through the hosted deployment's own configuration (k8s/ex-prod-values.yaml / environment). Check the Staging files for the same pattern.
