Start in src/bmad_loop/engine.py at the three session-start journal call sites around lines 8062, 8123, and 8202, then trace how the Claude Code adapter exposes session or transcript data. Check whether the SessionStart hook input or the first assistant transcript turn provides the CLI-selected model when cfg.model is empty. Done means the journal records that model instead of an empty string while preserving configured-model behavior.

Description
session-start journals model: cfg.model (src/bmad_loop/engine.py, three call sites around lines 8062, 8123, 8202 in 0.13.1). With the documented default model = "" ("empty = CLI default"), every session-start records "model": "". Token cost in the journal then cannot be attributed to a model.
Steps to reproduce
- Leave
model = ""in.bmad-loop/policy.toml. - Run any story.
grep session-start .bmad-loop/runs/<run>/journal.jsonl.
Expected behavior
The model the CLI actually used.
Actual behavior
{"kind": "session-start", ..., "adapter": "claude", "model": "", ...} on every session.
Suggested fix
When cfg.model is empty, journal the model the CLI reports: for Claude Code, the SessionStart hook input's model field, or message.model of the first assistant turn in the transcript. Our workaround reads the transcript after the run, which the orchestrator is better placed to do.
