What

The Labs page has five exercises built on scenario files in examples/labs/ (first scan, wildcard, rate limiting, recursion, failures). Each runs offline against a local DNS server, so they are safe in a classroom.

Ideas for lab 6

  • A CNAME chain several hops long, ending in a dangling target.
  • An IPv6-only service (AAAA records only) that the default -type A,AAAA finds but -type A misses.
  • A zone where -permute finds names (api-dev, api2) the wordlist does not contain.

How

  1. Write examples/labs/lab6-<topic>.zone; the format is documented at the end of docs/labs.md.
  2. Add a "Lab 6" section to docs/labs.md with the commands, questions to answer, and the answers.
  3. Add the scenario to TestE2ELabs in main_lab_test.go so its expected results stay true.

Done when

The new lab runs with -simulate-zone, is documented with answers, and is covered by the lab test.
