When the Maple GitHub App is installed directly through GitHub, its repositories show as installed on GitHub, but Maple's GitHub source setup cannot finish connecting them. Starting Install on GitHub from Maple opens the existing installation's Configure page, while Maple stays on Waiting for GitHub to send you back….
Reproduction
- Install the Maple GitHub App on a GitHub account without starting from Maple's Sources flow.
- In the intended Maple organization, open Sources → Connect source → GitHub.
- Click Install on GitHub and choose the account where the app is already installed.
- GitHub shows the installed repository configuration. Maple never receives the authorization return needed to create the source.
Expected: authorize the GitHub account and select its existing installation for the current Maple organization, preserving repository access without reinstalling.
Observed: GitHub reports the repository installed; Maple reports no GitHub connection and receives no CI runs for it.
Cause
Checked on 35e3b34ff9b218bf038664d186c1fcca8e7e9867:
GithubConnectService.startConnectonly creates an app-install URL, with Maple's user/org-bound state.- A direct GitHub install has no such state; the callback rejects it rather than guessing a Maple tenant.
installation.createdqueues a sync, butVcsSyncServicedrops unknown installations because there is no Maple ownership row.
The ownership checks are necessary. The missing piece is an authenticated way to discover and connect an existing installation.
