Direzione di ricerca

Start by locating the GFQL hop tests and the existing NULL-endpoint tests referenced by #1888; compare forward traversal with undirected traversal on pandas, polars and cuDF. Decide and document the expected NULL-source behavior, then pin both traversal cases in tests. The issue is done when the behavior is covered consistently or any engine-specific divergence is explicitly strict-xfailed.

Descrizione

From #1895 round 7's NULL sweep: a forward hop drops edges whose SOURCE id is NULL on pandas, polars and cuDF alike — uniform, pre-existing at the stack base, and reported but never pinned, so nothing records the behavior. Undirected traversal keeps the edge via its reverse orientation, which makes the asymmetry observable.

Decide the contract (a NULL source arguably cannot be traversed FROM — but then the edge should still be reachable in reverse/undirected consistently), pin both sides, and serve or strict-xfail. Related: the #1888 NULL-endpoint closure family (polars node-output semi-join never matches NULL; chain-vs-hop 2-vs-3; synthesized-table gating) and the cuDF UNION bool-vs-int collapse divergence pinned in test_a4_cudf_union_parity_or_named_divergence.
