The issue asks for a way to record a keybinding by pressing keys instead of typing key names, and it names the custom .conf keybinding syntax from #350 as the current approach. Start by reading how the extension's keybinding settings are defined and stored, then decide how a recorded key press would map to that same format. The issue leaves the design open (a record button or automatic capture while typing), so agree on one approach with the maintainers before coding. Done means a recorded shortcut is saved and works in the existing keybinding setup.

(1) Description

The title should be descriptive enough, but i will reiterate. The syntax description is lucklaster as arrow keys are not mentioned for example. So if there were a button to record your keybinding it would be easier for users to configure their shortcuts/ keybindings as they like.

(2) Alternatives I've considered

This is kind of mentioned with a custom .conf file (#350) for keybindings, although i still think it is way easier to just record a keybinding rather than (1) finding out the name of a key (2) then setting it with a syntax that is kind of unusual?

Two ways of implementation could be (1) adding a record button or (2) pressing multible buttons when entering the new shortcut will automatically add your buttons. Example pressing the "ctrl" key adds or pressing "-" appends "minus" to the text input string.

And it could create a popup like this if needed. Alterativly use the method of integrating keybinding recording to the alreadly implemented edit shortcut.
