Start in Sources/LocalVoice/TextDelivery.swift around the Accessibility-unavailable copy path, then Views.swift, QuickControls.swift and WorkbenchHome.swift for delivery labels and Home saved-transcript actions. Reuse Delivery and ClipboardReceipt so copy plus ⌘V is the supported mode without nags; keep automatic-paste preference for later approval. Coordinate wording with Prompts in #159. Done when a restricted account can record, copy, and paste manually, copy vs paste labels match the real outcome, and a focused test asserts no paste events without resetting trust.

Outcome and evidence

P2, user-reported managed-Mac friction with the current manual-paste route tested. A person whose IT policy prevents Accessibility approval should still understand how to dictate, copy and paste. Automatic paste should be an optional later convenience.

The user's work Mac showed an administrator prompt while enabling Workbench's Accessibility access. That machine's app build and policy are unknown; the screenshots' Recent transcripts/Handoffs layout must not be attributed to current Preview.

Local native test: Workbench Preview 2.3.0 (20260928054038), clean source 00be555139f87d4557f48fcffc132b8621c251a2, macOS 26.5.1, Apple M5.

  1. From Home, open Dictate. Delivery is below the transcript, recovery and saved-recording controls.
  2. Change Delivery from Paste automatically to Copy to clipboard. Guidance becomes “Finished transcripts are copied. Paste with ⌘V.”
  3. Use a temporary synthetic draft, click Copy text, then press ordinary ⌘V in a new TextEdit document.
  4. Exact text appears once. Original draft and delivery preference were restored; existing recovery audio/history remained intact.
  5. The shorter panel → Dictate Options route was also verified; it offers both delivery modes.

This proves mode discovery and Copy/manual paste on the current trusted Mac. It does not prove a fresh microphone-to-text run or actual OS denial, since permissions were not revoked.

Existing mechanism and gap

Reuse Delivery and ClipboardReceipt. Without Accessibility, copy is the normal supported delivery mode. Show “Copied” and the immediate ⌘V action beside recording/result, without repeating an instruction to enable Accessibility after every capture. On Home's saved-transcript reuse action, use Copy when only copying is available; do not label a copy-only outcome as Paste. Preserve the user's automatic-paste preference for later permission approval without falsely promising it now. Make optional automatic-paste setup discoverable later, with accurate “your organisation may need to approve this” guidance when appropriate. Do not require MDM detection.

Apple documents app-specific Accessibility approval and managed privacy permissions. IT may approve the signed app under its policy; a workaround should not require granting the user general administrator access or bypassing that policy.

Acceptance

  • A restricted account completes record → saved text → copied receipt → manual ⌘V without requiring Accessibility approval. Microphone/model readiness remain separate.
  • Deny/cancel/admin restriction leaves Start and copied text usable, with no repeated nag.
  • Fresh and existing users can find manual delivery at the action/result; panel, Home and Dictate agree. Home's saved-transcript action names its actual Copy/Paste outcome; no repeated permission nag after successful copying.
  • Coordinate the same copy/receipt wording with Prompts in #159. Missing Accessibility and an unreadable target are distinct reasons; neither promises insertion.
  • Copied, confirmed pasted, uncertain insertion and copy failure remain distinct. A stale clipboard never claims readiness.
  • Later permission approval and automatic-paste opt-in preserve history, drafts, shortcuts and other settings; retain guarded destination validation.
  • Add a focused unavailable-permission seam asserting no paste events; do not reset trust on a live user's Mac for tests.
  • Verify a real managed/standard-user account separately and record exact build and receiver.

Related: #15 for resumable first dictation, #134 for surface ownership, #162 for the separate stale-target risk, #164 for audit coverage. No new engine, account, elevated helper or permission bypass is needed.
