The README says macOS is untested. Known risk points:

  • libexec/build.sh falls back to shasum -a 256 where sha256sum is missing;
  • /bin/sh behaviour differences (the build script already works around dash vs bash);
  • Docker Desktop vs Docker Engine, --user $(id -u):$(id -g) mounts, and arm64 vs the amd64 KiCad image.

Run the README quick start and ./etchwork test on macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon) and fix what breaks. A macOS CI job would close this.
