Direzione di ricerca

The work centres on install.sh, which currently integrates with every detected harness. Start by reading how that script detects harnesses and where it applies each integration, then decide whether selection should come from an interactive prompt or command-line flags, since the issue leaves that open. Done means a run that selects a subset integrates only the chosen harnesses, and a run with no selection keeps a sensible default.

Descrizione

editor/integration enhancement
What problem does this solve?

Problem

Currently, the install.sh script automatically integrates codebase-mcp with all detected harnesses without giving users any choice in the matter. This results in unnecessary integrations and potential conflicts if a user only wants to use codebase-mcp with specific harnesses.

Proposed solution

Desired Behavior

Users should be given the option to select which harnesses they want to integrate with codebase-mcp during the installation process, rather than having all detected harnesses integrated automatically.

Example Workflow

  1. User runs install.sh
  2. Script detects available harnesses on the system
  3. User is prompted to choose which harnesses to integrate (via interactive menu or command-line flags)
  4. Script only integrates codebase-mcp with the selected harnesses
  5. Installation completes with only the chosen integrations

Benefits

  • Better user control over which integrations are enabled
  • Reduces unnecessary integrations
  • Avoids potential conflicts with undesired harnesses
  • Cleaner installation for users who only need specific integrations
