Research direction

The stale link is the install_help_location string at about line 29 of patchmatch/patch_match.py, which the reporter says lives in the upstream invoke-ai/PyPatchMatch repository, so check whether that file is vendored or copied here before editing. Confirm that the proposed URL https://invoke.ai/configuration/patchmatch/#installation loads, then run the PatchMatch loading path with a failing build to see the logged message. Done when the error message points to a live installation page.

What happened

After a fresh install of InvokeAI v7 Alpha 1 on Zorin OS 18.1 I encountered the following error message:

>> patchmatch.patch_match: INFO - Compiling and loading c extensions from "/mnt/nvme1n1p1/InvokeAI_Managed/.venv/lib/python3.12/site-packages/patchmatch".
>> patchmatch.patch_match: ERROR - patchmatch failed to load or compile (Command 'make clean && make' returned non-zero exit status 2.).
>> patchmatch.patch_match: INFO - Refer to https://invoke-ai.github.io/InvokeAI/installation/060_INSTALL_PATCHMATCH/ for installation instructions.
[2026-10-10 02:33:32,166]::[InvokeAI]::INFO --> Patchmatch not loaded (nonfatal)

The URL provided in case of an error is leading nowhere since the documentation itself has been moved. It is hard-linked in invoke-ai/PyPatchMatch/patchmatch/patch_match.py (line 29), though unfortunately the upstream repository doesn't allow the creation of issues, so I hope it's alright if I open one here.

What you expected to happen

An up-to-date referral to the installation documentation.

Said line 29 in patch_match.py should probably be changed to:

install_help_location = 'https://invoke.ai/configuration/patchmatch/#installation'

How to reproduce the problem

Start the InvokeAI Launcher on a fresh Linux or macOS install on which the steps mentioned in the documentation haven't been followed yet to see the error message.
