Research direction

Start in atlas/artifact_manifest.py and trace verify_manifest's signature branch; inspect the existing hash-check tests and how CLI verification results and flags are handled. Add coverage for a valid signature, wrong signer, and changed file, and document the wording and --require-signature behavior in docs/CLI.md. Done means the three tests run in CI and an unsigned bundle is clearly reported and fails when the flag is required.

Description

area/cli artifact

What needs doing

  1. Tests for the signature branch of verify_manifest: a good
signature, a wrong signer, a changed file.
  2. For a bundle without a signature file the result line says
    "hashes match, no signature present".
  3. A flag --require-signature makes that case a failure.

Why

The hash check has tests and the signature check has none. And a
bundle without a signature reports the same "ok" as a signed one.

Done when

  • The three tests run in CI.
  • The wording and the flag are in docs/CLI.md.

Where to start

  • atlas/artifact_manifest.py.
