Research direction

Start with geometric-lens/geometric_lens/embedding_extractor.py and read observe_embedding_convention() to see how it uses LLAMA_URL. Run atlas lens build on a host without LLAMA_URL set, then inspect the bundle manifest for the embedding contract. If it is missing, the issue asks for a URL change and a test; if present, report that finding.

Question

atlas lens build records the embedding convention the bundle was
trained against (observe_embedding_convention() in
geometric-lens/geometric_lens/embedding_extractor.py). The lens code
reads the model server from LLAMA_URL and defaults to
http://llama-server:8080, a name that resolves only inside the
Docker network. #230 sets the URL for the fingerprint step only.

Hypothesis, not verified: on a host without LLAMA_URL, the
convention step cannot reach the server, and a host-built bundle
declares no embedding contract.

Time box

Half a day.

Output

  • Build a bundle on a host without LLAMA_URL set, and read its
    manifest: is the embedding contract there?
  • If not: an issue to set the URL for the whole build (the one the
    build already reached), with a test.
