Research direction

Start with md5.cc and compare it with the updated Chromium base/md5.cc version linked in the issue. Replace the outdated implementation as described, then verify that the library still builds and its existing checks pass; done means md5.cc no longer uses the C++17-deprecated register type.

Description

md5.cc is using the register data type, which is going away in C++17, according to:

http://crrev.com/2780623003

The file was originally copied from Chromium, which now uses uint32_t instead:

https://cs.chromium.org/chromium/src/base/md5.cc?rcl=95cf7a59de278ede5e772ba752215c80a80ed122

Copying the updated version should suffice.
