What happens

On a phone, the "Cookies we set" table on /cookies is wider than its box, and the box clips it. At 390px wide the table needs 419px but its box is 356px, so the Lifetime column is cut off at the right edge. The wrapper div has overflow-hidden, so it can't be swiped either. A participant checking how long a cookie lasts can't read the answer.

The cause is the Name column in src/app/(legal)/cookies/page.tsx: each cell is an unbroken monospace name such as __Secure-authjs.session-token, which sets the column's minimum width, so the table can't shrink to fit.

Fix, in outline

  • Let the Name cells break inside a cookie name ([overflow-wrap:anywhere] or break-all on those tds), so the table fits the box at 390px with all three columns readable.
  • Keep the box's rounded border. Don't switch to a sideways-scrolling table: the column would still be hidden until someone thinks to swipe.

Watch for

  • src/app/(legal)/cookies/page.test.tsx covers the page's text. This changes only layout, so the text and the "Last updated" date stay as they are.
  • The page has no other table, but /app/signups/[id]/responses has one; leave it alone here.
  • CHANGELOG entry.

Done when

  • At 390×844, /cookies shows the whole table: Name, Purpose and Lifetime are all readable, and the page has no sideways scroll (document.documentElement.scrollWidth is 390).
  • At 1280px wide the table looks as it does now.
  • pnpm lint && pnpm typecheck && pnpm knip && pnpm test pass.

Found by the UX walkthrough, scenario V3, on opensignup-prod main at 651da5b (this repo at 208a077). Checked by measuring the table (419px) and its box (356px, overflow-x: hidden) at 390px wide, against cookies/page.tsx at 208a077; the page was the same before #736.
