Part of #310.
Context
While the reorganisation of #310 is in progress, the pull-request CI runs on Ubuntu with Julia 1.13 only (PR: "ci: run the pull-request CI on Ubuntu and Julia 1.13 only"), to shorten feedback: a macOS job can wait more than 15 minutes for a runner and a full three-OS, two-version run lasts 30–60 minutes. The weekly crons (#305) already run on Julia 1.13 only.
This is a temporary choice. The matrix caught real problems that Ubuntu + 1.13 does not see (e.g. the qualified @testset type of #324 failed only on Julia 1.10; the Windows line endings of #325 only on Windows).
What to do
At the end of the reorganisation (after the last issue of #310, before the next release):
- Restore
versions: '["1.10", "1.13"]'andruns_on: '["ubuntu-latest", "macos-latest", "windows-latest"]'in thecalljob of.github/workflows/CI.yml. - Restore the sentence of
test/README.md(label table: "Julia 1.10 and 1.13, three OSes"). - Run the full matrix once on
main(or on a PR) and fix what it shows. - Decide whether the cron (#305) should also cover another OS or Julia 1.10.
Done when
- The CI matrix is back to Julia 1.10 and 1.13 on Ubuntu, macOS and Windows, green.
- #310 mentions it as the last step before the release.
