Línea de trabajo

This epic is split into children #165, #21, #166, #167, and #168; start with #165, the explicitly identified first task, and read the shared-engine notes in ROADMAP and HDR.md for context. The epic is done when the children deliver the parameter-driven star renderer and the Sun's specified dynamic layers in HDR exposure units; this is broad, multi-stage design work rather than a standalone first contribution.

Descripción

epic track:rendering

Track A (rendering fidelity). Split out of #111 (2026-10-06 planning).

Goal

The Sun up close is as alive as the rest of the scene has become: granulation at several scales, sunspots with umbra, penumbra and faculae, a chromosphere, prominences, flares and CMEs, and the corona and solar wind, all in the HDR pipeline's exposure units (#86, HDR.md). And one renderer for every star: approach any catalogue star and it is drawn from its temperature, radius, luminosity class and rotation, not as a recoloured Sun.

Principle

One rendering path with physical parameters (the same rule as the planets' atmospheres): the Sun is the reference case of the star renderer, not a special case. Science first: limb darkening laws by temperature, granule scale from surface gravity, spot coverage and activity by type.

Children (in order)

  • #165 The /guide/star demo is broken (bug, first; PR #178)
  • #21 photosphere v2: granulation, spots, faculae, limb darkening by temperature (PR #183)
  • #166 Every star from its parameters: temperature, radius, class, rotation, activity (PR #184)
  • #167 The Sun's dynamic layers: chromosphere, prominences, flares and CMEs
  • #168 Corona and solar wind

Shared engine

The parametric body renderer this builds is the one gas giants (#41) and procedural exoplanets (#171) reuse (see ROADMAP, shared engines).
