Línea de trabajo

Start by reading the existing integrations and wrappers under py/src/braintrust/integrations/ and py/src/braintrust/wrappers/, then compare the CrewAI, AutoGen, and AgentScope instrumentation mentioned in the issue. Check py/pyproject.toml and py/noxfile.py for the integration matrix and test-session conventions; done means the listed E2B lifecycle, execution, and file-I/O surfaces are instrumented with coverage for their outputs and errors.

Summary

e2b-code-interpreter is the official Python SDK for E2B's cloud code-execution sandboxes, widely used as the code-execution tool for AI agents (e.g. executing AI-generated Python to analyze data, run tests, or produce charts). The primary execution surface is Sandbox.create() followed by sandbox.run_code(ai_generated_code), which returns an Execution object containing results (stdout, stderr, charts/images, tables, text), and a structured error (name, value, traceback) when the AI-generated code fails.

This repository has zero instrumentation for E2B anywhere: no py/src/braintrust/integrations/e2b* directory, no wrapper, no nox session, no cassette directory, and no entry in py/pyproject.toml's [tool.braintrust.matrix].

What's missing

  • Sandbox.create() / AsyncSandbox.create() — sandbox lifecycle/creation.
  • sandbox.run_code() / sandbox.run_code_async() — the primary "execute AI-generated code" entrypoint; the natural place for a tool-type span capturing the submitted code as input and the Execution result (stdout/stderr/results/error) as output.
  • sandbox.files.write() / sandbox.files.read() — file I/O commonly paired with code execution in agent workflows.

This is directly comparable in shape to other tool-execution surfaces this repo already instruments for agent frameworks (e.g. sandboxed/tool-call execution spans in CrewAI, AutoGen, AgentScope), but for E2B's remote code-execution sandbox specifically.
