Línea de trabajo

Start by checking the Herd 1.30.2 PHP installation flow and its download handling for PHP 8.6 on Intel macOS Monterey; the issue does not name source files or tests. Reproduce with herd php:install 8.6 and herd php:list, then inspect the actual download response before treating the unconfirmed HTTP 403 as the cause. Done means the install succeeds or Herd reports a clear error explaining the compatibility or download failure.

Descripción

macOS
Environment
  • macOS Monterey 12.7.6 (Intel x86_64)
  • Laravel Herd 1.30.2 (Build 68)
  • Existing working PHP versions: 8.3.36, 8.4.27, 8.5.12
Description

PHP 8.6 cannot be installed using either the Herd GUI or CLI.

In the GUI, the progress bar for Downloading 1/2 reaches the end in under two seconds, then remains stuck indefinitely. Herd must be quit and relaunched.

The CLI reports a successful installation, but PHP 8.6 is not actually installed.

Steps to reproduce
  1. Open Herd on Intel macOS Monterey 12.7.6.
  2. Attempt to install PHP 8.6 through the GUI.
  3. Observe that Downloading 1/2 completes almost immediately but never advances.
  4. Quit and restart Herd.
  5. Run herd php:install 8.6.
  6. Run herd php:list.
Expected behaviour

PHP 8.6 installs successfully, or Herd displays a meaningful error explaining why installation is unavailable.

Actual behaviour
  • GUI hangs indefinitely at Downloading 1/2.
  • CLI reports success without installing PHP 8.6.
  • herd php:list shows PHP 8.6 as Not Installed.
  • No php86 or php86-fpm binaries are created.
Additional diagnostics
  • macOS CFNetwork logs show HTTP 403 responses during troubleshooting. One request began immediately after a GUI mouse interaction on 30 October 2026 at 01:17:55 and returned HTTP 403 in 69 ms (694 response bytes, cache_hit=false).
  • The URL was redacted in macOS logs; we have not confirmed that this 403 is the PHP 8.6 download request.
  • No active TCP connections remain while the GUI is stalled.
  • No PHP 8.6 archive or executable was identified.
  • PHP 8.3–8.5 remain functional.
Questions
  1. Is PHP 8.6 supported on Intel macOS Monterey?
  2. Could the PHP 8.6 installation endpoint be returning HTTP 403?
  3. Is this a known issue with Herd 1.30.2?
  4. Is a supported manual installation method available?
