Check how the page handles the no-user result and CSRF token. It is done when recovery submits with the page token and reloads with either the mail-sent or no-user message; pull request #644 is already open.

Problem

"Recover account" in the login popup does not work.

  1. Click login, then "recover account".
  2. Enter a user name or e-mail address and click "submit".

Nothing happens. The browser console shows, on every click:

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading '__proto__')
    at hypha (...)
    at HTMLInputElement.onclick

Cause

  • reregister() in system/core/users.php writes a bare <table> into the popup, without a <form> around it. The button calls hypha(..., $(this).closest('form')), which gets an empty jQuery object, and hypha() fails on it. Even if it had been sent, the request carried no CSRF token, so executePostedCommand() would have refused it.
  • When no user matches, the PHP function reregister() returns nothing. The command then reaches the page itself, which does not know it and answers 404 instead of showing the message.

Expected

The request is sent with the CSRF token of the page. The page reloads and shows that a mail was sent, or that no user was found.
