User story

As a Craftopia server owner, I want my worlds saved inside the server files so that backups and container volumes keep them.

Script name

ctserver

Game

Craftopia

Linux distro

Ubuntu 26.04

Command

command: start, command: backup

Expected behavior

Craftopia saves to serverfiles/DedicatedServerSave/.

Actual behavior

Craftopia saves to a folder beside serverfiles called serverfilesDedicatedServerSave/ (for example /data/serverfilesDedicatedServerSave/ in the Docker image), which holds Worlds/*.db, Backup/, Settings.db and Craftopia.db.

Further information

ServerSetting.ini ships with savePath=DedicatedServerSave/, which the game documents as "relative path base on ServerSetting.ini folder or absolute path". The game joins the install folder and the relative value with no separator between them. It does this whatever the working directory, and however the executable path is given.

Results from a clean install:

savePath Saves land in
DedicatedServerSave/ serverfilesDedicatedServerSave/
./exp/ serverfiles./exp/
/exp/ /exp/ (treated as absolute, permission denied)
/full/path/serverfiles/exp/ serverfiles/exp/

An absolute path is the only value that lands inside serverfiles. On a normal install the stray folder is still under the home folder, but with Docker or a custom layout it falls outside the LinuxGSM folder and is easy to miss in backups.

Pre-checks
  • I ran update and validate before reporting this issue.
Relevant log output
$ ls -d /data/serverfiles*
/data/serverfiles
/data/serverfilesDedicatedServerSave
Steps to reproduce
  1. Install ctserver (or run the gameserver:ct image).
  2. Start the server and let it autosave.
  3. List the folder above serverfiles: serverfilesDedicatedServerSave is there.
