Línea de trabajo

The payload names no source files, so start by finding the Viewer's load path for a large system and where the main thread blocks during it. Reproduce with a system of about 10,000 atoms, and wait for the re-measurement tied to #339 before judging the rendering stalls. Done means the window stays responsive during a long load, a progress bar appears only after about one second, and the user can cancel.

Descripción

Found 2026-10-15 on niobium (GNOME, Wayland via XWayland) with a 10,236-atom MINFF clay + water system from a GROMACS minimisation. Opening it in the Viewer kept the main thread busy long enough that GNOME showed its 'not responding: Force Quit / Wait' dialog. Force Quit ended the Viewer with SIGKILL ('ecce-viewer: ended by SIGKILL'). Meanwhile the Builder could not be opened either, because it is the same program.

Expected: the window stays responsive during a long load and shows a progress bar (shown only when the load takes more than about a second), and the user can cancel.

Related: rotation of the same system stutters, with 14 stalls of 0.1-0.6 s in 15 s. To be re-measured with the XWayland frame-sync fix (#339) before investigating the rendering itself.
