Rechercherichtung

Start by reading issue #356 and related issue #304 to understand the existing error-handling gaps. The issue names the Trino, catalogue, dashboard and storage views, but does not identify files or tests; first locate those entry points and check how API errors and expired sessions are handled. Done means a friendly error page, consistent JSON API errors with status and message, and readable errors across the named views when services are unreachable.

Beschreibung

Error handling is currently only implemented in parts of the app.
One example is #356. After the session expires, the catalogue browser shows Unexpected token '<', "<!doctype "... is not valid JSON instead of showing a readable error message.

  • Friendly error page
  • API routes return consistent JSON errors (status + message) instead of HTML
  • Check that the Trino, catalogue, dashboard and storage views show readable errors when the backend or an upstream is unreachable
  • Error bodies have two shapes and are untyped. Storage endpoints return {message}; the Trino query endpoint returns {error}. As a result, PreviewModal.svelte:117 reads errBody?.error and never shows the server's message, and CatalogBrowser.svelte:33 shows raw JSON.

Relates to #304
