Rechercherichtung

Start by reading the packaging and browser-discovery entry points in Choreographer; the issue does not name specific files or tests. Determine what browser dependencies immutable Linux and Darwin distributions can package at build time, then propose an approach that avoids downloads and works across those platforms. Done means an agreed packaging strategy that addresses the reported nixpkgs blocker.

Beschreibung

I've been updating choreographer/kaleido/plotly on nixpkgs in anticipation of our next release and ran into a roadblock: no browsers are universally available across Linux and Darwin, and downloading isn't a solution (as an immutable distro, all dependencies need to be packaged at build time).

Any thoughts on how to make this work on immutable distros? Perhaps a subset of chromium (V8 and Skia, both are portable cross-platform) as a fallback?

At the moment, ~250 packages are downstream of this change so I'd like to figure out an alternate strategy.
