Rechercherichtung

Start by reading the implementation and tests for githubPullRequests.queries, then compare how the Issues view hides repositories with no results, as the issue points to #8474 and #8512. Add a per-query or global option that hides categories with zero pull requests and restores them after refresh; verify both empty and nonempty query results.

Beschreibung

Problem

I use githubPullRequests.queries to define many categories in the Pull Requests view, for example one category per teammate or per team. At any time, most of them have 0 pull requests. They still show in the tree, so the view is long and mostly empty. It is hard to see the few categories that have results.

Request

Add a way to hide a category when its query returns 0 pull requests. For example, a per-query property:

"githubPullRequests.queries": [
  {
    "label": "Alice",
    "query": "is:pr is:open author:alice",
    "hideWhenEmpty": true
  }
]

A global setting that applies to all custom queries would also work. The category should show again when the query returns at least one pull request after a refresh.

Related

  • #8474 and #8512 added this for repositories in the Issues view. This request is the same idea for query categories in the Pull Requests view.
  • #9096 adds groupBy to githubPullRequests.queries. It groups pull requests, but it does not hide empty categories.
