Rechercherichtung

Start by reading the PostgreSQL driver's Options in dbkit/postgres and compare how dbkit/sqlite handles its busy timeout. Trace where PostgreSQL connection options are sent to the server so LockTimeout can apply to every connection, with zero preserving the server default. Done when the option sets lock_timeout for each connection and leaves the default unchanged at zero.

Beschreibung

enhancement help wanted

An application should be able to cap how long a PostgreSQL query waits for a lock another connection holds.

Current state: dbkit/postgres Options only takes MaxConns. Without lock_timeout a query waits as long as the lock is held. An address can carry lock_timeout, but an application that wants a default has no option to set it. dbkit/sqlite already takes a busy timeout for the same job.

Proposal: add a LockTimeout duration to Options and send it to the server as lock_timeout on every connection. Zero keeps the server default.

Trigger: a downstream application found a save waiting without limit behind another one.
