Value Prop
GitHub Copilot can now interact directly with desktop applications on your machine — reading what's on screen, clicking buttons, filling in fields, and navigating workflows — so you can automate tasks that go beyond code and terminals. This is especially powerful for working with legacy or GUI-only software where no API or integration exists. You stay in control throughout, with runtime permission checks that keep automation guarded and transparent.
Expected Outcome
Developers and enterprises spend significant time on repetitive, manual desktop workflows that are difficult to script or integrate. By giving Copilot the ability to drive any application through natural language prompts, teams can automate a much wider range of tasks without writing custom tooling. The goal is to expand what Copilot can do for you — from a coding assistant to a capable agent that works across your entire desktop environment.
