Description
Lambda Dev Sandbox is a native AWS capability that creates a per-session live development environment for Lambda functions. Here's how it works:
- Your Lambda function's handler runs locally on your machine (in your IDE), while the function's actual execution role, VPC configuration, and event sources remain active in AWS
- Real cloud events get rerouted to your local code when API Gateway, SQS, EventBridge, S3, or Kinesis triggers your function, the invocation routes to your local handler instead of the deployed version hence you can iterate on your code locally against live events. Code changes are reflected instantly on the next invocation without any re-deploy step hence it helps in accelerating the inner loop development cycle.
