Why it matters
Dark mode follows the OS only; a reading-heavy reference site is expected to offer a toggle. A web manifest and a small service worker that caches data.js, styles.css, app.js and the home page make search and the shortlist work offline (game jams on venue Wi-Fi), allow "Add to home screen" and give the installed app the right colour.

Evidence

  • No manifest.webmanifest or service worker in site/public/; no theme toggle in index.html.
  • data.js and the home page are static per build, so cache invalidation can key on the generatedAt stamp the build already emits.

Suggested approach
Three-state toggle persisted in localStorage (wrapped in try/catch, as the shortlist already does), applied via data-theme on <html> before first paint. Manifest with the existing favicon as a maskable icon. Service worker with a versioned cache name derived from generatedAt, network-first for HTML and cache-first for assets.

Done when
The toggle works and persists, Lighthouse reports the site installable, and the home page search works with the network off after one visit.
