Rechercherichtung

Read the official MPP and Tempo documentation first, then inspect CircuitJobService.process and the gateway entry points to assess per-fragment payments and session support. Verify Tempo’s network details, registry dependency #2, and the MPP SDK fit; dependency #3 and Stripe’s x402 support also affect the decision. Done means committing a docs/ decision record with findings, risks, replay and over-spend protections, and an implementation plan; if adopted, include a testnet demo script and follow-up issues.

Beschreibung

chain-integration enhancement payments research-spike tier-2

Summary

Evaluate and prototype Tempo (Stripe/Paradigm's payments chain) and the Machine Payments Protocol (MPP) for streaming per-fragment payments through prepaid sessions.

Motivation

MPP sessions (deposit once, spend with off-chain vouchers, settle in batches) match the platform's fragment loop better than one on-chain payment per request.

Current state in this repo

  • Per-request x402 is the only agent-payment rail (on feat/algorand-x402). Fragments execute in a loop in CircuitJobService.process.

Proposal

  • Time-boxed spike: read the official MPP and Tempo docs, decide whether Tempo is reachable as an EVM chain via the registry (#2), and whether an MPP server library fits the Next.js gateway.
  • Prototype a session on testnet: open, pay a few fragments with vouchers, close and settle.
  • Write a decision record (adopt, defer, or reject) with findings, risks and an implementation plan.

Acceptance criteria

  • A written decision record is committed under docs/.
  • If adopted: a working testnet demo script and follow-up issues are filed.
  • Voucher replay and over-spend protections are described.

Out of scope

  • Production rollout.

Dependencies

  • #2
  • #3

Verify before implementing

  • Tempo's current network status, chain id, supported stablecoins and permissioning (sources conflict).
  • MPP specification and SDK availability at the official MPP documentation.
  • Whether Stripe's support for x402 allows a single front door.
