Rechercherichtung

The issue provides two examples where a module’s total downloads differ from the sum of its version history counts, and points to issue #347 for related version history work. Start by tracing how the gallery calculates and displays the module total and version history counts, then compare the sources used for each. Done means the total matches the summed version counts for the reported modules; the issue names no files or tests to start from.

Steps to reproduce

I work on a module called ScubaGear which is published on PSGallery and the "total downloads" count shown on the left side of the page is incorrect.

Image

It's currently showing the total as 162,956 (and has been stuck at that number for a couple weeks since 6/29) but it should be 163,350. I cross referenced from another repository just to sanity check and seems this applies to other PSGallery modules as well. For example, NuGet is showing the total as 10,896,299 but it when adding up the version history download counts it should be 11,058,916.

We've been tracking https://github.com/PowerShell/PowerShellGallery/issues/347 as a similar issue, but that issue is for the version history download counts and seems to be resolved.

Expected behavior

I expect the total download count to match what's shown in the version history.

Actual behavior

There's a disconnect between the total and the version history download counts.
