Research direction

Start by reading dc_msg_is_forwarded and tracing how forwarded images with pre/post messages are represented. Reproduce the issue by forwarding a sufficiently large image without text, as described. Done means dc_msg_is_forwarded returns true for the forwarded image so the UI can show its forwarded indicator.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.

Description

bug
  • Operating System (Linux/Mac/Windows/iOS/Android):
  • Core Version:
  • Client Version:

Expected behavior

Forwarded messages should show an indicator in the UI.

Actual behavior

Core returns false in dc_msg_is_forwarded for messages with large images and without text.

I think this is related to pre/post messages.

Steps to reproduce the problem
  1. Send an image without text (the image should be big enough to cause pre/post message)
  2. Forward the image
  3. Now the forwarded message returns false in dc_msg_is_forwarded
