Research direction

Start by reading the macOS app entry point and the existing overlay and menubar icon code to see how input audio activity is exposed. Implementing this requires replacing the overlay behavior with a menubar icon that animates during detected input and stays still during silence; confirm both states work during dictation and meetings.

Description

enhancement
Problem

Some users prefer minimal distractions / visual elements on screen, including when dictating. This may also be preferred during meetings.

Proposed solution

No overlays. Instead, just a menubar icon which animates when input audio is detected, and doesn't when there is silence.
