Research direction

Start by reproducing the reported gem install slather failure on macOS Catalina and inspect the racc native extension build output and mkmf.log referenced in the report. Identify why the compiler cannot generate an executable despite Command Line Tools being installed, then confirm installation succeeds with the supported setup. The issue does not name a Slather source file or test.

Description

I'm trying to install Slather to run Sonar on my Mac, and i'm getting this error :

sudo gem install slather

To see why this extension failed to compile, please check the mkmf.log which can be found here:

  /Library/Ruby/Gems/2.6.0/extensions/universal-darwin-19/2.6.0/racc-1.5.2/mkmf.log

extconf failed, exit code 1

Gem files will remain installed in /Library/Ruby/Gems/2.6.0/gems/racc-1.5.2 for inspection.
Results logged to /Library/Ruby/Gems/2.6.0/extensions/universal-darwin-19/2.6.0/racc-1.5.2/gem_make.out

I tried with xcode-select --install like everyone is suggesting on forums, but they are already installed:
xcode-select: error: command line tools are already installed, use "Software Update" to install updates
I also cannot open the packages from the commandlinetools : open /Library/Developer/CommandLineTools/Packages/macOS_SDK_headers_for_macOS_10.15.pkg, because it does not exist.
I don't know if on this version of macos they changed the path to the headers or im missing something here.

Any help please?
