Research direction

Start with section 6 of docs/research/2026-10-15-meetings-category.md, which holds the reproduction and fix sketch for each row. Good entry points are MeetingModels.swift:58 (the Safari catalogue entry) and MeetingAudio.swift:1009 (the route watchdog). The issue is a tracker of about 40 defects across many subsystems, so pick one row and confirm it on the Mac build. Done means each row is fixed and passes native acceptance on the installed Preview.

Description

Verified, build-ready defects in the meeting capability, from the 15 October map in docs/research/2026-10-15-meetings-category.md (section 6). Each was claimed by a subsystem reader and kept only when two independent skeptics (correctness and reachability) both found it real at the train head 88c5e67. #374 built the ones not listed here; this issue holds the rest for the next build-ready pass. Found between the subsystems by the completeness critic

  • P2 The route watchdog ends a recording whose chosen app stops delivering buffers, pre-empting the guarded Finish and tearing the microphone down every 2 s meanwhile (MeetingAudio.swift:1009). checkRoutes begins recovery when any recorder has had no buffer for 12 s (recorders.contains(where: { ($0.secondsSinceLastBuffer ?? .infinity) > 12 }), MeetingAudio.swift:1009-1012; secondsSinceLastBuffer is nil until a first buffer, 444-447). beginRecovery bumps the generation, marks a discontinuity on BOTH tracks and calls restoreRoutes (956-963), which runs disconnectRoutes (stops the AVAud
  • P3 A long two-track meeting on the batch path silently loses its You/Others labels past 2,000 utterances on one track (MeetingConversation.swift:53). writeUtterances throws once a track yields 2,000 utterances (guard files.count < maximumUtterances else { throw … }, MeetingConversation.swift:31, 53-55); utterances split on 0.6 s of silence (29), so a talkative speaker reaches the cap in roughly two hours. separatedConversation catches every error and returns nil (MeetingRecovery.swift:314-335), and run() then saves `text: conversation ?? text

Order of value, from the record: a real call app leaving a call while Workbench records settles the route-watchdog-versus-guarded-Finish question before any of its fixes; then the handoff P2 (Copy instructions never returns a result to Home), the live echo drop, the 10 Hz snapshot rebuild, the Safari offer, and the two-hour cut with no warning. Everything here stays open until native acceptance on the installed Preview.
