Research direction

Start by reading build-brief PR #298 for the native ownership map, manifest schema, HTTP/state contract, receiver adapter and acceptance matrix. Then trace the Help → Report a problem journey and existing Dictate/Snap failure routes to identify the native and intake entry points. Done means the complete private, durable report flow meets the listed acceptance criteria, including verified receipt, preservation of unsent work and signed Mac acceptance.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.

Description

Production users need to show or explain a problem, press Send and return to work. Saving a diagnostic folder or opening GitHub is too much work for this audience.

Implement one complete Mac journey: Help → Report a problem → optional text, screenshot and/or short voice note → durable automatic upload → verified private developer receipt. No account, required technical questionnaire, speech-model download or assistant connection. Preserve independent captures and unfinished work.

Build-brief PR #298 supplies the native ownership map, shared manifest schema, HTTP/state contract, Sentry receiver adapter, Cloudflare reference intake and failure/acceptance matrix. This issue owns implementation and activation; merging the brief does not close it.

Acceptance:

  • Native composer with reviewed evidence, safe running-build context and optional reply email; existing Dictate/Snap failure routes reach the same owner.
  • Private local outbox survives offline/quit/relaunch; immutable report IDs and bytes, bounded retry and truthful statuses preserve every unsent submission.
  • First-party intake durably receives evidence, limits anonymous abuse and verifies the private receiver event plus every downloaded attachment before reporting Received.
  • Maintainer can assign/filter/download the packet, investigate from the development Mac and link sanitised engineering work and its actual released fix.
  • Synthetic live tests prove provider acknowledgement, attachment integrity, lost acknowledgement, upload/delete races, isolated deletion, quota failure and retention. Preview and production remain separate.
  • At least three unfamiliar users complete the flow without coaching, account setup or file management; signed Mac acceptance covers permissions, accessibility and preservation of independent work.
  • Before activation, confirm accounts/plan/region/budget, service and inbox owner, failure alerts, support contact and updated public privacy/guide text. No paid provisioning or deployment is authorised by this issue alone.

Exclude continuous recording, automatic crash telemetry, AI diagnosis, custom support dashboards and mobile/browser work. Supports #7; backend and native implementation may use two dependent PRs under one delivery lead.
